Horses in the High Country Catalog Sale is a premier horse sale held the third weekend in May and September in the high mountains of Colorado's San Luis Valley. This sale attracts buyers and sellers from all over the country and features a diverse variety of horses suitable for all types of work, from ranching to recreational riding. Come join us for a weekend of fun and some high-quality horses that are a must see!
Join us Friday afternoon of sale weekend to watch some top cowboys compete in our ranch rodeo, enjoy some good barbecue, and listen to classic country music. Saturday sale day starts off with demonstrations and gives buyers ample time to preview horses before the auction starts at 1 pm. Whether you are in the market to buy or have a good one to sell, Horses in the High Country Catalog Sale is the place to go!

*Individuals may sell their own tack via their own means outside of the barn throughout the weekend. There will be no tack auction.

Our sale features a diverse selection of horses from all over the country, ensuring that you'll find the perfect fit for your needs. We've got a weekend full of fun in which you can spend time thoroughly inspecting any prospective horses. The catalog will be posted on our website and social medias 2 weeks before the sale. Consignor Information for Catalog Sales
CATALOG CLOSED- the catalog entry deadline has passed.
Late entries will not be accepted. Our next Catalog Sale will be in May of 2027. Remember, consign early to secure your spot!

We would like to extend an invitation for you to consider selling your horse at the MVLA Horses in the High Country Catalog Sale. Our auction offers a highly competitive market with extensive exposure for cataloged horses. Our goal is to create a reputable sale that facilitates mutually beneficial connections between buyers and sellers.
Catalog submission deadline is either the 1st of the sale month (May 1st or September 1st at 11:59pm) or when 100 head of horses have been consigned, whichever is first. The catalog fee is $150 per horse and non-refundable. All horses submitted before the last 7 days of the consignment period will pay a discounted catalog fee ($50 off). The sale is capped at 100 head of horses, so be sure to consign early to get a spot! Consignments will be open until 100 horses have been entered or until the consignment deadline, whichever comes first.
Please review the Horses in the High Country Consignor Packet below before consigning to get acquainted with our sale schedule, process, and conditions. It will also outline anything you may need to have prepared in order to consign.
